Telling the story of MODERN TALKING
Once upon a time, a german producer named Dieter Bohlen composed
the song "You're my heart, you're my soul", during a summer vacation in Spain. When he returned to Germany,he asked the singer Thomas Anders to record it.(The two had been cooperating before, when Dieter composed some german songs for Thomas.) Thus, Modern Talking was born."You're my heart you're my soul" became a hit in 35 countries in 1985.It was followed by "You can win, if you want" "Cheri, cheri lady",(a song from their second album"Let's talk about love"),which gained a lot of popularity too.The success continued with other the number one singles:Brother Louie and Atlantis is calling, both from their third album "Ready for romance",from 1986.Other songs like Geronimo's Cadillac, Jet airliner and In 100 years became international hits too.Modern Talking was very successful in Europe, Asia,South America and in the Middle East.It was " '80s gold".
The band split in 1987, due to some quarrels between Dieter and Thomas' wife, Nora.
The duo reunited in the spring of 1998.Their first comeback album,"Back for good" included some new tracks,as well as new versions of their '80s hits and it peaked number one in the german charts and in other 15 countries. That same year, they won the award for being "THE BEST SELLING GERMAN BAND".The next album, "Alone", was very successful as well.A series of singles and four more albums followed as: "Year of Dragon", "America", "Victory" and "Universe".Modern Talking collected 500 gold and platinum awards.
In 2003, Bohlen and Anders split up again, due to Bohlen having isufficient time to deal with so many projects.
In the same year, BMG released "The final album", which is a collection of Modern Talking hits between 1985 and 2003.
The genius of Dieter Bohlen and the wonderful voice of Thomas Anders made Modern Talking one of the greatest bands ever, that will be always alive in our souls. |
